Meeting Minutes

The regular monthly meeting was called to order by Chairman, Patrick Colgrove. Tom Riemer, Traci Beiersdorff, Laura Martinsen and Bill Pearce were present. There were 0 people in public attendance.

  • The August 2025 meeting minutes were presented, and a motion was made by Bill Pearce, seconded by Tom Riemer to approve them as written. All in favor, motion carried.
  • The August 2025 Treasurer’s report was presented, and a motion was made by Tom Riemer and seconded by Bill Pearce to approve the report as presented. All in favor, motion carried.

Comments by Clerk/Board – Chairman identified that he had fixed some of the signs within the township that needed to be repaired.

Tom Riemer noticed that there was a road problem at the intersection between Holmes Road and Old Airport Road. Chairman confirmed he will talk to Nick Nye about doing a coal mix and use the tractor and back blade to address the problem.

Tom Riemer also noted that there were potholes on Holmes Road and Pearce Road. Chairman confirmed he will reach out to the Ashland County Highway Department to fix them. Chairman also noted that Bruce Kleinsteiber with the Ashland County Highway Department is retiring.

Chairman also noted that he is working with Ashland County Highway Commissioner to put an electronic traffic counter put on Old Airport Road to do a week’s worth of time. This will help to distinguish the different types of traffic [I,e, truck or a larger vehicle such as a bus or semi]. Chairman relayed that often when completing road grants it is asking for traffic counts. Chairman is also speaking with Ashland County Highway Department regarding anticipated needs for Old Airport Road for a future road project. More to come at future meetings.

OLD BUSINESS:

  • Roads:
    • Beaser Project Report: Town Chairman identified that he has been in contact with Scott Campbell with Northwoods Paving. Paving should be done by Friday at the latest and shouldering soon after. Town Board inquired if it would be possible to wait 1-2 weeks for the shouldering to be complete. Chairman will talk to Scott about this to see if it is a possibility. Chairman also noted that with two pavers, side by side, and a second roller no traffic was allowed through which presented challenges. Chairman noted this is something to think about for future road projects.
  • Wakefield/ABC Road Report: Town Chairman identified he met with McCabe Construction and developed an agreement. The agreement outlined that the town will invoice McCabe Construction for the cost of materials, grading time, and Nick Nye’s time. Town Clerk will work on creating an invoice to send to McCabe Construction to reimburse the town for expenses accrued. From there, the town will pay the individuals and agencies who completed the work or delivered materials.
  • WTA Workshop September 17- Town Clerk and Chairman both plan to attend the fall WTA workshop at Lakewoods Resort in Cable.

NEW BUSINESS:

  • WIS DOT CVT Road Certification and WISLR Road Survey: Chairman identified that he is now going to do the mapping electronically vs. paper copies and mailing in them. Chairman is currently working on the items and hopes to have done by October. He is reviewing them with Ashland County Highway Department Commissioner prior to submitting them. The road certification and road survey is due by December 15th.

-The next board meeting will be on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 7:00 pm.
